Each day, we breathe in about 11,000 litres of air. We spend 80% of our time indoors, which means most of our breathing during our lifetimes happens inside.
The York Environmental Sustainability Institute (YESI) is delighted to announce that its Director, Professor Lindsay Stringer, has been awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the King’s Birthday Honours List 2025 for her outstanding services to Environmental Development.
A new UK-Thai research collaboration led by the University of York and Kasetsart University is developing tools to assess societal readiness for biotechnology. During a recent visit to York, researchers co-developed responsible research and innovation frameworks, explored stakeholder engagement strategies and laid the groundwork for future training and fieldwork.
Kano State, Nigeria joined the global City Nature Challenge for the first time in 2025! This incredible milestone was made possible through the YESI International Fellows Scheme and Dr Ummi Khalthum Mohammed’s visit to the University of York in 2024.
