BA (Hons) Business and Management with Spanish (with a year in industry)

Year 1

In your first year, you'll study four core modules in Business and Management, which introduce some of the key concepts and techniques used. You'll also study two core modules in Spanish. The modules give a broad overview of topics you may want to specialise in, with assessments designed to develop your academic skills. 

• If you have studied Spanish to A level, you'll study post-A level modules
• If you are taking Spanish ab initio (from scratch), you'll study ab initio modules.

In addition to the above you will also need to complete our online Academic Integrity module.

Year 2

In your second year, you'll study four core modules in Business and Management. You'll also study one core and one option module in Spanish to advanced level. Modules build on the concepts introduced in Year 1 and you'll explore challenging questions and apply your learning to practical business problems.

Year 3

A year in industry gives you the opportunity to apply your academic learning to a real-life business. You will be paid a salary while on your year in industry. Average salaries vary by country but the average salary for the School's 2025-26 placements in the UK is £24,900 (ranging from £20,180 to £40,000).

Our in-school Placements Team advertises hundreds of vacancies each year. You can find placements in all sorts of industries, all over the world. The process of applying is intensive and competitive, so the team will work with you from the beginning of your course to guide you in your choice of placement and prepare you for applying.

Year 4

In your fourth year, you'll take two core modules in Business and Management and one in Spanish to proficient level. You'll also study three option modules - two from the School for Business and Society and one from the Department of Language and Linguistic Science. You can choose to develop new skills, take a closer look at topics you're familiar with, or investigate an interesting subject in detail.

  The dissertation is completed over the whole year. If you choose to undertake a dissertation you will only study two additional option modules.

  A dissertation draws on the knowledge and skills you have developed throughout your degree. You'll collect and analyse empirical data to illuminate or solve a complex issue or problem in the field of accounting, business finance and management. You'll write a longer and more complex document, sustaining a well-reasoned argument and drawing sound conclusions.
