With its international reputation and impact, and its rich variety of plasma science, the York Plasma Institute offers an outstanding research environment to help researchers make the best possible start to their careers.

We have a number of different fellowship schemes available to outstanding candidates from around the world. Take a look at the potential schemes - but please make sure you check the eligibility criteria before applying.

Winston Churchill Memorial Trust
Communication of science and technology. Fusion of the arts and science. Up to 150 travelling fellowship per year. Overseas stay of four to eight weeks (minimum four).
Daphne Jackson Trust
Returning after a career break.
Royal Society - Global challenges
Postdoctoral fellowships.
Royal Society - Newton fellowships
Newton fellowship (Are you at the beginning of your research career - with the potential to be world-class?)
Toshiba fellowship programme
Work in Toshiba labs Japan.
STFC fellowships
EU Individual fellowships
Not Euratom. At least four years of full-time research experience.
Women in science (L'Oreal)
Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellowships
Less than four years of research experience. Innovative training network (ITN) + Research and innovation Staff Exchange (RISE).
NERC fellowships
Sir Henry Wellcome fellowships
Postdoctoral training ideally in a cross-disciplinary area of basic research or public health. Funding of £250K.
EPSRC fellowships
Postdoctoral, early-career, established career schemes.
Leverhulme Trust - early career
Offering fifty per cent match-funding for the salary costs of the three-year academic research position, the scheme enables early career researchers to undertake a significant piece of publishable work. Applicants must have a track record of research, but should not have held an established academic appointment in the UK. 50 per cent of salary costs.
Leverhulme Trust
Also Research fellowships (100 per cent funding for three to 24 months), Emeritus fellowships, Visiting Professorships, Study abroad studentships, International academic fellowships.
Commonwealth scholarships
Mid-career citizens of developing Commonwealth countries to work at UK institution.
Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851
Up to three years of funding undertaking research. All nationalities undertaking research usually at a UK institution.
Royal Astronomical Society
Three years for astronomy or geophysics.
