Access Social Care Letter Writing Clinic

The Access Social Care Letter Writing Clinic (LWC) is delivered in partnership with York Law School (YLS). The LWC is a pro bono activity for YLS students.

Access Social Care (ASC) is a charity that provides free legal advice and support to help people in England get the social care that they are entitled to. ASC trains YLS law students in the Care Act and supervises LWC cases. The students use their knowledge to provide one off assistance to clients with social care issues by writing a letter for the client to send to their local authority about the matter.

The Access Social Care Letter Writing Clinic students assist with:

  • Requests for needs assessments
  • Requests for copies of care planning documents
  • Requests for carers assessments.

Clients and cases for LWC are administered by ASC, not by YLS.
