LabVIEW
LabVIEW (Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench) is a system-design platform and development environment from National Instruments (NI) for a visual programming language.
It's used in engineering, physics, and other scientific research and development fields for automating measurements, data acquisition, and instrument control.
Key features
- Provides tools for managing projects, including source code control and project libraries.
- Integrates with a wide range of data acquisition (DAQ) hardware from National Instruments and other vendors.
- Offers extensive libraries for mathematics, signal processing and statistical analysis.
- Supports real-time data analysis and processing, suitable for applications like monitoring and control systems.
Access instructions
- LabVIEW is installed on PCs in P/T/212 and the spill out area in P/T/201, and are exclusively available to Physics students.
- For University-managed devices in the Departments of Biology and Chemistry, and the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology, you can install LabVIEW from the Software Center (Windows) and Self Service (Mac).
- For other devices, you will need to download the software and create a National Instruments account (ni.com) using your York email address and password.
