Welcome to Langwith College!
Named after nearby Langwith Common, we’re one of York’s founding colleges, yet our old spirit is as youthful as ever! Our college was opened by Queen Elizabeth the II in 1965 and we even played host to Jimi Hendrix two years later. We’ve since moved to Campus East.
Our college motto is ‘Vincit qui se vincit’ - ‘In order conquer you must first conquer yourself’. We’re here to help our more than 600 resident students and over 1,000 college members do just that; by expanding their knowledge, growing their skills and empowering our community to become the best that it can be.
