Green Chemistry Green Impact Success in 2025 - NEW Diamond Award and Double Platinum Projects
Posted on Friday 20 June 2025

We achieved the NEW Diamond award for our workbook on sustainability in labs and the community. One of only three groups in the whole university to achieve this due our success over the past five years.
We were also awarded Double Platinum for two Projects including;
- Operation SHINE (Sustainability, Health, Innovation, and Nature Education) - working with non-chemists, fellow scientists and school children (3 separate schools in York) to talk about green chemistry principles and their environmental, social and economic benefits.
- Sustainable Solutions for Lab Water Management - to reduce the consumption of tap water for cooling purposes in labs across the Chemistry Department.
These achievements were awarded by Professor Charlie Jeffery, the Vice-Chancellor at the university ceremony last week.
