Accounting, finance and actuarial science

Our research explores a broad range of the sub-disciplines of accounting, finance and actuarial science (AFAS), including distinctive focuses on the public good, financial regulation, environmental responsibility and development of quantitative methodology.

In finance we carry out research in sustainable finance, corporate finance and governance, corporate misconduct and bankruptcy, financial regulation, market microstructure, empirical asset pricing, financial risk management, financial econometrics, time series analysis and fintech.

Our accounting research includes financial accounting, management accounting, auditing, critical accounting and accountability, public sector accounting, social responsibility and sustainability reporting, market-based accounting, business valuation, taxation and regulatory compliance.

In actuarial science our researchers have interests in mortality modelling, risk and ruin theory, pensions and household finance, compensation for personal injury and wrongful death, quantitative risk management and solvency, model validation and prudential regulation.
