Case studies

This multi-partner project investigates the potential to use waste from sugarcane processing to produce bio-based citric acid, which has a growing market in the food, beverage and cleaning sectors.

In partnership with GCCE we launched BDC, an open-access R&D centre working at the interface between academia and industry to develop, scale-up and help commercialise biobased products and processes.

Researchers at CNAP and GlaxoSmithKline Australia (now Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd) made a key genetic discovery in the opium poppy for the biosynthesis of a major pharmaceutical. Sun Pharma have used this discovery to develop bespoke commercial poppy varieties.
