An Introduction to Acousmatic storytelling

As part of the LCAB Artists Residency programme, PhD student Theo Tomking and artist Julia Schauerman have been developing 'Growing Stories for Different Climates.' This will be an acousmatic story composition; a type of storytelling that uses recorded spoken word set within composed sound scenes which evoke specific places and time periods.

It is a blend of different types of recorded material, for example, interviews, archival sounds, and manipulated sounds. The term acousmatic refers to the use of loudspeakers to present such compositions to listeners.

Theo Tomking has recorded a new sound mix - Planting Avocados and rainfall in London & Trinidad -as part of the collaboration.  You can listen to this below:
