Getting ready for your PDR

As we move into the 2025 PDR cycle (July-October), we would like to remind you to explore the career development resources to support PDR discussions. Individuals can use these bitesize resources to reflect on their aspirations and potential, identify how they want to develop, and build their competence and confidence for future roles and selection processes.

Whilst we are encouraging an administratively light touch PDR this year ahead of the new approach coming in 2026, it is still a valuable opportunity to recognise your successes, discuss development areas and consider your career development. The PDR provides all of us with an opportunity to pause and reflect on the last year, and consider what may be next in our development and career.

For those who want to delve deeper into career development, great books and podcasts are signposted on the Drive your Development page. In particular, the Squiggly Careers podcast is very popular and includes new content on how to make best use of AI to support career development.

You can also use the resources as tools to support career conversations with your team. Want to know more about how to approach career conversations? The Supporting the Development of Others page provides useful guidance and tips.
