Please see the above opening hours and contact information.

I have a large parcel arriving and can’t physically collect it from the Info Centre, how do I ask for assistance?

Students can contact Campus West reception to let us know, and we can provide trolleys or if the parcel is extremely large we can look at alternative methods of having the parcel brought to your accommodation.

If I have a room booked in the building but there is no one on reception to help me find it what do I do?

Contact the relevant campus reception (West / East) and we can assist. We would also recommend looking at the campus map for information.

We have a meeting in the building and Reception would usually assist giving access and guidance to external visitors, who do I speak to?

Our reception team will unlock any rooms in use that day in the morning, so access will already be available, for any guidance we are available at the relevant campus reception (West / East) in person or by phone.

What is going to be the procedure with the opening and closing of buildings? Will reception staff still have the time to do this?

The opening and closing procedure will remain the same, being provided by the staff at Campus West reception and the night receptionists.

Are local keys going to be held in the department now rather than the reception?

Local departments normally hold their own office keys etc., any keys that were held in individual colleges in Campus West receptions are now held at the main Campus West reception at the Information Centre.

Will current reception staff be losing their jobs as a result of the changes?

No reception staff have, or will lose their jobs as a result of these changes.

How will this affect student arrivals and moving into colleges the weekend before Freshers' Week?
  • The check-in for students (14 and 15 September) will happen as normal. The College teams will have all the room keys / cards and they will manage the check-ins across specific hours, with reception staff on hand at receptions to help with any issues (maintenance, mail, lock outs for example). Outside of these hours, the check-ins are managed by our reception teams as normal for Campus East and through the Information Centre on West (with Halifax open 7am to 11pm on Sunday only).

  • For international arrivals on Friday 13 September, the relevant teams are aware of our change to service and have altered their arrangements accordingly (e.g. shuttle bus drop offs, luggage storage).
